Helix - The Latest Wine Innovation

So, I came across a cool concept in wine storage - Helix - a twist to open cork and glass design.

Since the introduction of the screw cap bottle in the mid-1990's, the debate over wine storage and preservation with modern technology has divided wine makers and enthusiasts. Helix's cork-glass packaging marries the convenience of a twist cap with the tradition of a cork. I found it to be intriguing, and it has the wine industry buzzing.

The ‘twist to open’ concept combines an ergonomically-designed stopper made from proven micro-conglomeratecork with a glass bottle that has an internal thread finish in the neck. This design creates a sophisticated and high performing wine packaging solution. Helix combines all the benefits of cork and glass – quality, sustainability and premium image with user-friendly, re-sealable convenience.

Is this the death of the corkscrew? Or will the tradition of the global wine industry resist modern innovation?

Cheers!

Katie
